The Yuneec H520 is a recent addition to the hexacopter market, and one that VFR Studios experienced drone pilots conducted a test flight with this week. The H520 offers a six-rotor system, allowing for a stable flight. Its long lenses are ideal for capturing 4K/2K/HD video or 20Mp stills photography.
Lead VFR Studios Pilot, Alan and Spotter, Richard, visited the Yuneec Technical Flight Centre yesterday and were given a demonstration by Yuneec’s Daniel Farren. Daniel demonstrated the H520’s wide range of functions, including the ST16 ground station, built-in surveying operations, and versatile manoeuvrability both in manual and GPS modes.
On taking control of the drone, Alan was immediately struck by the feeling of stability and smooth throttle and yaw which resulted in some satisfyingly smooth footage. The 360 degree camera was also smooth to control, and striking, too, was the low noise output compared to other professional drones on the market.
The Yuneec H520 is a neat but complex hexacopter with plenty of functions for experienced pilots to explore, too many for one afternoon. Overall, the VFR Studios team were very impressed by the Yuneec H520 and the test footage will be reviewed over Easter week pending a purchase for our studios. We’d like to extend our thanks, too, to Daniel and the Yuneec team for their warm welcome and advice on the day.
